DREAM LAB

Dismantling Racial inEquities Around Mental Health

Our research

Our Mission

The DREAM Lab investigates how cultural stressors, including both interpersonal and structural exposures, shape the mental health and development of children and adolescents, as well as the mechanisms that underlie these associations and the cultural assets that may protect against these risks. Building on this work, we aim to identify and advance culturally responsive, evidence-based approaches to assessment, prevention, and intervention as a key strategy for reducing mental health disparities and barriers to quality care. Using community-based participatory research (CBPR), multi-method designs, and qualitative approaches, we partner with youth, families, and communities to co-create strategies that promote equity and well-being among historically marginalized populations.
